MINI brake systems are engineered for the responsive stopping that MINI’s go-kart handling character demands. JCW models with Brembo performance brake packages use larger rotors and higher-friction pad compounds that require JCW-specific replacement components. Standard MINI brake pads are not appropriate substitutes. Our MINI Certified Master technicians know the correct specification for every MINI configuration.
Most current MINI models use electromechanical parking brakes. When servicing the rear brakes on these models, the EPB actuator must be retracted using MINI diagnostic software before compressing the caliper piston.
Attempting to compress the piston manually without software retraction will damage the EPB motor. We perform this procedure correctly on every applicable MINI brake service.
Road salt runs October through April in West Michigan. It corrodes rotor surfaces and stiffens caliper slide pins in MINI vehicles just as it does in any other car. Annual brake inspections are the practical standard for Grand Rapids MINI owners. We flag any corrosion or wear issues before they turn into larger repairs.
MINI specifies brake fluid replacement every two years regardless of mileage. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over time, which lowers its boiling point. We flag every vehicle approaching the two-year mark.
JCW Brembo brake packages use larger rotors and higher-friction pad formulations specific to JCW. Using standard MINI brake pads in place of JCW-specific pads changes the friction characteristics and thermal behavior that Brembo engineers into the JCW configuration.
We use Genuine MINI JCW components on every JCW brake service.
